Polyaspartic Coating | Mixer Family Patio

For Kimberly Mixer and her husband, the patio floor had been a source of annoyance for years. While it didn’t stop them from spending lots of time outdoors, it did take away from the beauty of their home. That’s why the Mixers turned to Chattanooga Floor Care for a solution—setting them up for a happier view from the kitchen window and many more days outside.

Project type: Patio and Back Porch

Flake floor color chosen: Shoreline

Project completed: March 2022

Q: What were you hoping to achieve when you contacted Chattanooga Floor Care about your project? What was your vision for the project?

A: I am in a networking group with Grady [Wilson, estimator with Chattanooga Floor Care], and he was talking about what he does. He was sharing about the transformation that they can make, turning a cracked floor into something that looks phenomenal.

We had him come out to the house and look at our patio. It’s 40 years old and had many cracks in it. We had a company “repair” it a few years ago, and all they did was put a rubber mixture into the cracks, which looked hideous. I was never happy with it.

He reassured me that we could fix it and that you would never even see the cracks. That was our goal—to make it look like new.

They went above and beyond, and we could not even be happier with it!

Q: How was the installation process? How did it compare to your expectation of a project like this?

A: It was super easy for us. The guys were friendly, they were courteous, and they asked permission about whether they could leave the trailer at our house overnight. They made sure we were able to easily get in and out of the driveway. I couldn’t imagine it being easier for us, for certain.

It was a two-day project because of the cracks. The first day, they took off the first layer of paint and fixed the cracks. And honestly, if that had been all they’d done, I’d have been happy. Then I knew for sure that the second day was going to be amazing.

The second day is when they flaked the patio. They did one layer, then let it sit for a couple hours, letting us know not to touch it. They then applied the top coat and said don’t walk on it until tomorrow morning and then you’re ready to go after that. And that’s exactly what happened.

Q: What is your favorite thing about your completed project?

A: The look of it! It’s beautiful. It looks like a brand-new patio, which in some ways it is. They used the foundation we had and put this beautiful flake on it, and we love it.

We’re trying to decide what we want to do with the space. We had a giant table out there before the floors were fixed, but we want to see more of the patio floor now.

We have these big windows that overlook the patio, and I used to look out and see these cracks. It was aggravating to look out. Now I love to look out, because it is beautiful. It looks like sand, so it reminds me of going to the beach.

I really feel like what we’ve done has increased the value of our home. Now you look at it and think “wow, this is so nice.”

Q: What would you tell a homeowner considering a project like yours?

A: Do it! Don’t hesitate. It’s so quick and easy. It’s cost-effective. When Grady gave us the price, we were very surprised. My husband thought it would be double that. That’s why we did it—we felt like, “what a value.”

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share?

A: I wish we’d have found Chattanooga Floor Care years ago, when we first looked to repair the patio floor.
