Polyaspartic Coating & Urethane Cement | Little Coyote

Little Coyote is the latest concept restaurant by Erik and Amanda Neil. Erik Neil approached Haskel Sears Design & Construction (General Contractor) and Tinker Ma (Designer) to make their concept come to reality. Once the location was determined and the plans were starting to come together, Chattanooga Floor Care was given the opportunity to help specify the flooring. Luckily, we had helped with multiple other restaurants for the clients and knew what they liked. Tinker Ma, Haskel Sears, and the clients sat down at Chattanooga Floor Care’s office to walk through the options - discussing functionality, aesthetics, and budget, and came up with the best floor system for the space.

The clients wanted an indoor/outdoor feel instead of two separate dining areas and our concrete coating system would provide the seamless open concept design they had in mind with the durability needed for the restaurant industry. Concrete coating samples matching the aesthetic desired by the client were provided to the design team, and, once the design was confirmed, were then moved into pre-construction planning.

Chattanooga Floor Care worked with the Haskel Sears team to plan out the installation - including measures for floor protection, proper installation conditions, and scheduling all other trades to be able to work around this installation. The installation was determined to take place in three separate phases to provide the best final product.

Chattanooga Floor Care’s Scope of Work

Size: ~3,100 square feet

Duration: 14 days broken down into 3 phases

Completed: September 22, 2023

Existing Conditions: A mixture of 60+ year old concrete and new concrete. Plumbing trenches had to be cut out and re-poured. Overall condition was moderate but challenging.

Kitchen

We ground all concrete surfaces to a CSP 5 with our Lavina diamond grinders and superabrasive tooling for the kitchen area and repaired all cracks, pits, and spalling. We cleaned the surface and installed the following system to manufacturer’s specifications: Sika 24NA Urethane cement installed at ⅛” with a Sika 217 double broadcast epoxy quart system.

Dining

We ground all surfaces to a CSP 3-4 with our Lavina diamond grinders and superabrasive tooling for the front of house areas and repaired all cracks, pits, and spalling. We cleaned the surface and installed the following system to manufacturer’s specifications: Surfkoat Polyprime base coat, Torginol Terrazzo Collection in “Yukon,” and Surfkoat GL90 Polyaspartic top coat.
